Shadowlands Alpha - Exile's Reach Alliance Warlock Playthrough

Exile's Reach is a new starting zone experience, aimed at new players. Being very linear and displaying a lot of tutorial tips, Exile's Reach is a perfect experience for new players to learn the ropes of playing WoW! Currently on the Shadowlands Alpha, Alliance characters can go through the zone.
Currently, all level 1 Alliance characters created in the Shadowlands Alpha are sent to Exile's Reach. Veteran players will be able to choose between doing Exile's Reach or their chosen race's starting zone. Exile's Reach will last until level 10, and you will leave the area with a basic arsenal of spells for your class, your first mount, a chosen specialization and your Hearthstone set in Stormwind City.
Players speeding through Exile's Reach should take around 1 hour.

Stranded in Exile's Reach
The questline for Exile's Reach starts on a boat approaching the coast of Stormheim. Moving to Captain Garrick gives the quest
, where you will need to warm up by fighting a Combat Dummy!
After warming up, the next quest is
Stand your Ground
, where you simply spar with Private Cole. Defeating Private Cole will get you to level 2 and earn your first spell, in this Warlock's case, it was
. As you accept
Brace for Impact
, the rain surrounding your ship will become much stronger! After talking to the captain and completing Brace for Impact, a work in progress cinematic appears, and your boar will be crashed. Welcome to Exile's Reach!
The first quest in Exile's Reach is
, where you will learn how to find objectives in the minimap by defeating Murlocs in the area. Killing the 6 murlocs for the quest will level you to level 3 and you will learn a new spell. In my case, it was
You will also see the new quest marker interaction for the first time here, with an arrow pointing out where you need to turn in quests! In this quest's case, it disappears at 80 yards.
The next quest is
Emergency First Aid
, which will teach you how to approach NPCs and interact with them to complete quest objectives. Completing this quest will also give you a 6-slot bag, an Emptied First Aid Kit. The next quest is
Finding the Lost Expedition
, where you will advance to find more of the stranded NPCs. This will also give you a prompt to open your map and see your next destination.
The quest after this is
, where you will gather meat to feed the stranded survivors. During this quest you will hit level 4 and learn a new spell - In my case,
. By turning in this quest, you will learn what defeated our stranded survivors - Quillboar.
Fighting the Quillboar
Enhanced Combat Tactics
, you will once again test your mettle, this time against Captain Garrick. Captain Garrick teaches Warlocks about their DOTs and how to be effective with them. It will also teach casters in general to stay a distance away from their foes. The quest completes itself after Captain Garrick is brought to low health 3 times.
After completing your second combat test, the next quest is Northbound, which simply requires you to advance further into Exile's Reach. You will receive your first set of more than one quest at the same time,
Down with the Quillboar
Forbidden Quillboar Necromancy
. In the Quillboar area, you will also learn about rare mobs, with an Ogre Overseer rare showing up. During these quests, you will hit level 5 and learn a new spell -
for a Warlock.
The next quest is
The Scout-o-Matic 5000
, where you will ride a flying machine and scout the area... and find an Ogre responsible for capturing Captain Garrick's son, Henry!
The Ogres, Here?
In the quest after,
Re-sizing the Situation
, you will calibrate a gnomish machine to supersize a Wandering Boar. You will then ride the giant boar in
Ride of the Scientifically Enhanced Boar
to trample the undead army and open way to Torgok, the ogre responsible for the attack. Defeating Torgok will get you to level 6, teaching a Warlock Curse of Weakness.
We will then learn that the ogres are trying to use the life force in the area to raise a dragon! In the next quest,
Stocking Up on Supplies
, you will learn how to interact with vendors and sell any items you have with them. You can even purchase an

with Quartermaster Richter! It serves no combat benefit but will let everyone know you're a proud member of the Alliance. Finishing this quest also gives you a second, 10-slot Bag, the Standard Supply Knapsack.
Learning Side Quests
You will then get three quests:
The Harpy Problem
and a class quest,
A Warlock's Bargain
for Warlocks. Completing these quests will get you through level 7, where Warlocks learn

Class Quest - A Warlock's Bargain
For A Warlock's Bargain, you will find a void portal near a dead Warlock. Grabbing the dead Warlock's grimoire will allow you to interact with the Void Portal, teaching you how to

will give 3 quests:
The Rescue of Meredy Huntswell
Purge the Totems
. If you missed the first rare, there will be a second rare that spawns here, the Ogre Taskmaster.
After turning in
, you will receive the quest
Who Lurks in the Pit
, which will require you to go down a pit to rescue expedition members. After saving 5 Expedition members, you defeat the undead Hrun the Exile to save the druid Ralia Dreamchaser, who will bring you out of the cavern!
Side Objective - The Lightspawn
During these quests, you might find a questmarker pointing towards a Lightspawn. This will teach new players about side quests. Talk to the Lightspawn to start the quest
Freeing the Light
, which will require you to cleanse pylons around the Lightspawn area. Completing this quest will grant you a 10 minute buff that drastically increases your movement speed.
Elite Quest - Killclaw the Terrible
Another side quest will teach you about Elite quests - Finding a Danger Sign will give you the quest
Killclaw the Terrible
, where you are required to kill an Elite bear of the same name. Although the quest says it requires 5 people, I was able to solo it as a Warlock. If you happen to complete this quest, the reward is inside the cavern behind Killclaw.
After completing all quests, you will receive the quest
To Darkmaul Citadel
, requiring you to go even further north in the peninsula.
Right Beneath Their Eyes
, you will be disguised as an Ogre and bring the Alliance Expedition inside Darkmaul Citadel, the Ogre stronghold in Exile's Reach. This quest will teach you about emotes, as one of the steps is to /wave at the ogre leader, Gor'groth. If you have done all the quests previously, this quest will get you to level 9, where a Warlock learns
The next quests are
Controlling their Stones
Like Ogres to the Slaughter
. On these quests, you're required to kill ogres in the area, retrieve ritual stones from named Ogres and destroy catapults.
Darkmaul Citadel Dungeon
In the final quest for Exile's Reach,
Dungeon: Darkmaul Citadel
, you will learn about dungeons! This quest will teach you how to use the Group Finder tool and use it to find a group for the mini-dungeon. You won't need to wait for very long, though, as NPCs will act as the extra roles for your dungeon group! The first boss, Tunk, has an Interrupting Shout where casters need to stop casting, a Seismic Slam to dodge, and he drops a 12-slot bag, Tunk's Trunk.
The fight with Gor'groth is very straightforward until 50% health, where he sacrifices himself to revive the dragon Ravnyr! Ravnyr has a frontal breath that deals damage and needs to be dodged but should also be relatively easy. Ravnyr will drop a ring, Darkmaul Signet Ring.
As you finish the dungeon, the Wildhammer Clan has found Exile's Reach! It is time to leave the peninsula and go to Stormwind to continue your adventures in Azeroth.
Arrival in Stormwind
In Stormwind, more introductions happen - You will learn your first riding skill and a mount for free, about specializations (as well as choosing your spec) and how to set your Hearthstone in an inn. Once you're done with all that, you're then sent to Stormwind Keep to start the storyline for Battle for Azeroth!
