6.2 PTR: Garrison Shipyard, Naval Missions, and Ship Abilities

One of the new 6.2 features is the Garrison Shipyard, which will grant players access to Tanaan Jungle. Here is a preview of the early shipyard quests and the ships you can send on Naval Missions!

Official 6.2 PTR Patch Notes
: Speak with King Varian Wrynn inside the Town Hall of your garrison.
: Travel to the Iron Docks and speak with Exarch Naielle. Your Garrison Flight Master can provide transport.
: Collect three Explosive Charges and a Detonator.
There is also an objective to Disrupt the Iron Horde Evacuation, similar to a progress bar for Apexis Dailies.

After your Shipyard is built, there is the following quest series to build a ship and invade Tanaan:

: Meet Solog at the dry docks.
: Learn the blueprints (
) and destroy the evidence.

: Speak with Solog to begin construction on a transport ship. Once complete, add it to your collection of ships. Constructing a ship takes 1000 Garrison Resources.

: Meet with Khadgar at your shipyard and then speak to Yrel to begin the invasion.
: Find any information on the forces deployed in the area and meet with the scouts afterwards.

An additional nice change is that the Alliance Garrison now has a backdoor so you can easily reach the Shipyard:

There is preliminary Naval Mission data. Categories are: Ship-Combat, Ship-Oil, Ship-SiegeA, Ship-SiegeH, Ship-Training, Ship-Treasure.
The existing ship missions in the database are very rough, but you can browse them all
here on our PTR database
. They appear to work the same as follower missions--assign ships to a naval mission, have them counter unique threats.
Types of Ships
Naval Missions appear to reuse the same tech as Garrison Followers. These are different types of ships you can own:
Level 100, Rare, Troop Transport (A) / Troop Transport (H), Item level 615
Level 100, Rare, Dreadnaught (A) / Dreadnaught (H), Item level 615
Level 100, Rare, Submarine (A) / Submarine (H), Item level 615
Level 100, Rare, Carrier (A) / Carrier (H), Item level 615
Level 100, Rare, Destroyer (A) / Destroyer (H), Item level 615
Ships can be equipped with different things, like
The ships you build have special naval-themed abilities. These counter the threats Chaotic Whirlpools, Icy Water, Dense Fog, Evasive, Swift, First Strike, Stormy Weather, Flying Units, Minelayer, Ground Objective, Iron Clad, Artillery Cannons, Submerged.
Slices a path through the ice.
Adds extra stability to the ship, allowing full mobility in Stormy Weather.
A set of charts that allows a ship to navigate without vision.
Keeps the ship upright and stable, allowing it to move through Chaotic Whirlpools.
A massive furnace, capable of producing 11 out of 10 power.
Reinforces the rudder to allow tighter turns at higher speeds.
Mines are no match for a tank of trained sharks. With guns.
Creates a barrier around your ship, blocking any first attacks.
Allows the ship to burn more fuel, getting it to and from destinations quicker.
This crew has seen it all and has the hats to prove it.
On a devestating hit, this fallback mechanism breaks apart, saving the ship from certain destruction.
Carry extra rations on board the ship to improve morale on long trips.
Increases success chance when on a mission with an Air Carrier.
Increases success chance when on a mission with a Dreadnaught.
Increases success chance when on a mission with a Destroyer.
Increases success chance when on a mission with a Troop Transport.
Increases success chance when on a mission with a Submarine.
Attach ship equipment to this bay.
Attach ship equipment to this bay.
Allows Troop Transports to run missions that require boots on the ground.
Allows the submarine to become invisible to radar and sneak up on enemy ships.
Fires armor piercing rounds that cleanly cut through additional armor.
Drops explosive shells into the water destroying submerged craft.
A fleet of bombers that can attack from the air.
Brawny Orc crewman find it easy to keep their engines running at top speed.
Counters Swift with the strength and will of a Dwarven Crew.
Hooves provide ample support through stormy weather.
A tumultuous deck from storms cannot shake a Tauren crewman.
Counters Chaotic Whirpools with small explosive charges deployed around the ship.
Counters Chaotic Whirlpools with a complex set of weights and gizmos.
Great vision and quick turning make a Night Elf run ship difficult to hit.
Improved vision helps Blood Elves see through dark and stormy skies.
Capable of instant complex coordinated manuevers, whenever necessary, trolls find it easy to out manuever any first strike.
Worgen's acute sense of danger allows them to dodge the first attack in every naval encounter.
Increases success chance on a mission by 10%.
Increases success chance by 10%.
Pandaran crewman stash extra supplies on their ships, which helps on long missions.
